Phil has been a meteorologist since 1976. He has played a part in some major weather stories including the Ice Storm of 1998. He feels that anticipation is the best form of forecasting and is much preferred to reaction - "Let's give people some lead time and maybe save some lives." Phil worked the August 2nd 2006 severe weather outbreak which generated a record 14 detected tornadoes in a single day. Only one person died when a tree fell on his tent ... it could have been much worse. Currently Phil is teaching and completing some research work that has occupied his spare time for decades.
